The central government has approved the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana – IV, a Rs 701.25 billion initiative to improve rural road infrastructure. The project aims to construct 62,500 km of roads, providing all-weather connectivity to 25,000 unconnected habitations by 2028-29. Additionally, the scheme will focus on upgrading bridges on new connectivity routes.
This initiative will drive socio-economic development in remote areas by connecting nearby educational, healthcare, and market centers. The project will incorporate advanced techniques such as cold mix technology, waste plastic, fly ash, steel slag, and panelled cement concrete to ensure sustainable construction. Road planning will be managed through the PM Gati Shakti portal for efficient execution and detailed project reporting.
