The Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) is likely to release funds worth Rs 1,400 million for two road projects in Uttar Pradesh soon.

Funds worth Rs 1,000 million have been allocated for the Ganga Four-Lane Expressway Project (Phase I) and Rs 400 million for the Bundelkhand Six-Lane Expressway Project (NH-35/76, NH-91) under current year’s budget and will be released soon.

Out of total cost of Rs 362.3 billion, Rs 47.7 billion has been allocated till now for Ganga Expressway and Rs 62.7 billion out of total cost of Rs 148.49 billion has been allocated for Bundelkhand Expressway.

Ganga Expressway involves construction of a 593.34 km long six lane access-controlled expressway (expandable to eight lanes) over the Ganga river from Meerut to Prayagraj in the state of Uttar Pradesh at an investment of over Rs 362.3 billion. It will connect Amroha, Bulandshahr, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Kannauj, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh to Prayagraj and will have five major bridges, eight Rail over Bridges (RoBs) and 18 flyovers on public private partnership (PPP) mode.

Bundelkhand Expressway, being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), involves construction of 293 km long six lane expressway from 13 km from T-junction of Chitrakoot at Jhansi-Allahabad on the National Highway (NH)-35/76 (chainage 266 km) and 3 km from Bharat Koop to 16 km east of Etawah-Bewar road on NH-91 at Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Kudrail village of Etawah district at an estimated cost Rs 148.49 billion.
